Amateur Chamber Music Day

The Forest Flute Choir, is delighted to announce details of its inaugural amateur chamber music day on Saturday 12th September 2015 at Coleford Baptist Church, Newland Street, Coleford, Gloucestershire GL16 8AN.

The day will start promptly at 10am and will run to 5pm and is specifically designed especially for flautists playing at a higher level; participants should be able to sight read confidently and play to at least a grade 6 level. Music will be provided, though if you have some of your own, you are welcome to bring it. Small group chamber music coaching will be provided by Fiona Crawley, founder and conductor of The Forest Flute Choir and Matt Mann, final year student at The University of Kent, majoring in flute performance. There will also be the opportunity to form some larger ensembles. Please bring any basses/altos/piccolos plus a music stand and if time permits, there will be an informal concert at the end of the day.

Fiona Crawley said,’ at last we’ve been able to arrange something for higher level players; we try to organise something for everyone but seem to have done much more for beginners in the last few years. Lots of flautists do not have an outlet to play so this will be ideal for them and we hope to encourage people to come from all over the county and beyond. It will be a relaxed and informal day of music making!’

Players are asked to bring a plate of food to make a shared lunch for everyone to enjoy together. All other refreshments provided, though please inform us of any allergies. Total cost for the day £20 waged; £10 unwaged. For further information contact Fiona Crawley – 01594 563079 or via email fiona.crawley@yahoo.co.uk
